Wyoming, the least populated U.S. state, lies in the mountains of the Western U.S. Among the country’s least densely populated areas, much of the state is covered by prairies and mountain ranges. The capital and largest city, Cheyenne, is located near Wyoming’s border with Colorado and has approximately 91,000 residents.
Wyoming’s major industries are centered around the state’s mineral resources, which include coal, natural gas, crude oil, uranium, and diamonds. While gold and silver have both been mined in Wyoming in the past, neither have contributed a significant share of the state’s economy.
The state of Wyoming does not have a tax exemption for coins, paper money, or precious metal bullion. Because they are not specifically exempted from sales tax requirements, transactions involving these items are taxable. The current Wyoming state sales tax rate is 4%. Some areas have additional local taxes; the total tax rate may be as high as 6% depending upon the city. Be sure to factor in this additional expense when calculating the total cost of your coin or precious metal purchase. Despite the added expense incurred by sales tax, there are a number of highly regarded Wyoming coin dealers serving local collectors.
Below is a list of local precious metals dealers in Wyoming, including directions to each local shop.
Wyoming Precious Metals carries gold, silver, and collectible coins. Their coin selection is primarily focused on 90% silver US coins.
