The D-Day landings, also known as Operation Overlord, took place on June 6, 1944, marking a crucial turning point in World War II. This massive Allied invasion of Nazi-occupied France was the largest amphibious assault in history, involving troops from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and other Allied nations. 2024 marked the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings and Merrick Mint honors the moment with these $2 World War II D-Day Normandy Landings Legal Tender Notes available at JM Bullion.

The D-Day operation began in the early hours of June 6, with airborne divisions parachuting behind enemy lines to secure key objectives and disrupt German defenses. As dawn broke, a vast armada of over 5,000 ships approached the Normandy coast, carrying thousands of troops, vehicles, and supplies.
All of these $2 World War II D-Day Normandy Landings Legal Tender Notes are available with individual blue presentation folios. Each note features the original reverse design with colorized, photorealistic additions to the background of the obverse that depict scenes of Allied Troops landing at Normandy.
On the obverse of $2 D-Day Normandy Landings Legal Tender Notes, you’ll find President Thomas Jefferson at the center. The background on either side of him depicts scenes of troops coming ashore during the landings on D-Day. The invasion targeted five beaches along a 50-mile stretch of the Normandy coastline, code-named Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword. Each beach presented its own challenges, with Omaha Beach seeing some of the bloodiest fighting. The Allied forces faced fierce resistance from German troops, who had fortified the coastline with obstacles, mines, and gun emplacements as part of the “Atlantic Wall” defenses.
The reverse side of the World War II D-Day Normandy Landings Legal Tender Note features John Trumbull’s iconic 1818 painting known as the Declaration of Independence. The painting is prominently featured on the reverse side of the U.S. $2 bill. The painting depicts the presentation of the draft of the Declaration of Independence to the Second Continental Congress on June 28, 1776. It shows 42 of the 56 signers of the Declaration, although not all of them were present at the same time in real life.
