One of the oldest gold bullion coins in the market is the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf. Introduced by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1979, the only coin that is older than the Gold Maple Leaf is the South African Gold Krugerrand. In 2024, Gold Maples embark on a new journey with the highly-anticipated debut of King Charles III’s bust on the coins. Canadian Gold Maple Leafs debuted in 1979 with just a 1 oz gold coin available to investors. At the time, the Gold Maple Leaf was a .999 pure gold coin. Expansion in the series began in 1982 with the addition of 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins, with the series also enjoying a boost to .9999 fineness for the coins.
Further expansion in the series came in 1989 with the addition of a 1/2 oz gold coin, 1993 with a 1/20 oz gold coin, and in 2014 with a 1 Gram gold coin. Over the course of its history, the Gold Maple Leaf Coin featured three different effigies of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The first image depicted Her Late Majesty with the final British portrait on Canadian coins, followed by Dora de Pedery-Hunt’s first-ever Canadian portrait of the Queen. The final bust of Her Late Majesty was Susanna Blunt’s 2003 depiction of the Queen at the age of 79.
In the obverse design of 2024 1 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coins, you will find the first-ever bust of His Majesty King Charles III. In keeping with coin designs of British monarchs, His Majesty is shown without a crown and captured in left-profile relief.
For the reverse face of 2024 Canadian Gold Maple Leafs, the Royal Canadian Mint features its long-running depiction of the sugar maple leaf. This naturalistic view of the sugar maple leaf was created in 1979 by Walter Ott.
These 2024 1 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Tubes come with a total of 10 individual coins inside, each one in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. All coins in this tube are 2024-dated Gold Maples.
