The Proof American Gold Eagle coin is a popular collectible gold coin from the United States Mint. While its bullion counterpart is struck to meet demand, the proof version was originally issued with mintage caps, though the coins rarely reach this level. The 2001 issue of American Gold Eagles receded from the previous growth of 1999 and 2000. Today, 2001 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins are available to you online from JM Bullion with perfect certifications from the NGC.

The Proof American Gold Eagle coins all saw mintage declines in 2001 compared to the growth of the previous two years. In fact, in all four of the available weights, the Proof Gold Eagles erased the gains of the last two years and fell below the previous low-mintage lines set in 1997 for the program.
All of the 2001 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins available to you in this JM Bullion listing earned a perfect certification from the NGC. Coins with the PF70 certification have full, original mint luster and lack all possible detracting flaws on the designs and surface areas. The inclusion of a UCAM label indicates the coins have impressive visual brilliance as a result of strong, frosted matte designs and deeply-mirrored, clear background fields.
On the obverse of all 2001 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins, you’ll find the effigy of Liberty. This depiction of Liberty was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and helped to spearhead a radical change in all American coinage early in the 20th century.
The reverse face of the 2001 Proof American Gold Eagle Coin features Miley Busiek’s one-of-a-kind American bald eagle design. Her depiction features a family of bald eagles with a male flying over the nest while a female watches over the hatchlings found within the nest.
The 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coin had the second-lowest drop in demand for the 2001 issue. The 1 oz coin experienced the least decline, but the 1/2 oz coin was close behind with a drop of 8,788 coins from the previous year. This mintage figure remains the lowest of the first two decades of Proof Gold Eagle production in the 1/2 oz weight.
