The PAMP Suisse Lunar Collection of silver bars dates to the 2012 Year of the Dragon and features differing views of the same creature on the obverse and reverse sides. Early bars in the collection, including these 10 Gram Lunar Monkey Silver Bars, strictly featured the same animal on the obverse and reverse from different angles. Later releases, starting with the Year of the Dog, featured one member of the species on one side and a different view with another, younger member of the species on the other.
All 10 Gram PAMP Suisse Lunar Monkey Silver Bars in this listing come to you inside of the CertiPAMP packaging of PAMP Suisse. These sealed packages securely house the silver bar, include an Assay card, and enable the buyer to validate their purchase with PAMP Suisse using information found on the Assay card.
The obverse of 10 Gram PAMP Suisse Lunar Monkey Silver Bars includes the image of a monkey walking on all fours along a tree branch as it passes in front of the trunk of a tree. An engraving at the top of the tree trunk denotes the Chinese symbol for a monkey.
Falling 9th on the Zodiac, the monkey raced to the Jade Emperor’s meeting along with all the other animals summoned by the emperor. However, the monkey had fallen well behind and had to jump from tree to tree and over stones to catch up and arrive ninth to the meeting. You’ll often find lunar-themed precious metal designs depicting monkeys jumping or climbing trees as a nod to this movement in the race.
On the reverse of 10 Gram Lunar Monkey Silver Bars, you’ll see the same tree trunk from behind. Now, most of the monkey’s body is obscured by the tree. The only visible features of the monkey include part of a front and rear leg, the back of its head, and its tail swooping around the trunk of the tree.
