The United States is home to one of the highest concentrations of active private mints in the precious metals industry. Among the most notable at the moment is Anonymous Mint. If you’re looking to buy silver that earns the title “one-of-a-kind,” then you need to take a closer look at some of the programs offered by Anonymous Mint. Led by top coin designer Julie Lindquist, Anonymous Mint has released hit after hit in recent years, and is building upon its portfolio of silver rounds featuring famous artwork with the new Amy Brown Collection.
In 2017, Anonymous Mint released the Alphonse Mucha collection with six designs from the father of the Art Nouveau movement. Now, Anonymous Mint is focusing on a 21st century artist by highlighting the fantasy world creations of Amy Brown. This new silver round release features some of her most memorable fairy works, and includes enough variety to ensure investors and collectors alike find something they want to own!
First and foremost, at JM Bullion we’re proud to serve as the exclusive release partner of the Amy Brown Collection. Debuting with the Red Queen design, the seven rounds in this collection will all be sold exclusively on their debut from JM Bullion. Our partnership with Anonymous Mint deepens with this fairy-and-fantasy program, and we’re happy to be the home of Amy Brown’s works!
For the release of this new silver round series, Anonymous Mint teamed with the Amy Brown Fantasy Art Inc. for authorization to use many of her greatest works of art from the fairy-and-fantasy realm. The collection features a total of six designs in all (release dates included):
Amy Brown’s career as an artist started in the early 1990s when she was working in a small art gallery. Her boss found an empty frame on the gallery’s walls and asked Amy to fill that frame. Her painting of a fairy that went into the frame was so popular it sold almost immediately. From here, her career followed an upward trajectory that would see her works displayed at local shops and in local street fairs.
Her career works have followed close to her own passions. She has a deep love for watercolor painting and an admiration for the fairy realm, which resulted in beautiful works of art steeped in the splendor and awe of all things fantasy. After some time, she opened her own website to showcase her works and began selling her original works online across the world. Today, she has created more than 2,000 paintings and licensed products. You can find her artwork in countless books, calendars, websites, and even products for sale. As of 2017, Amy has one million Facebook followers looking for her latest works at all times, and she was named a top ten fantasy artist for the year as well.
Like many Anonymous Mint collections, the Amy Brown Series delivers options for all investors and collectors. For each of the seven designs released, you’ll find six silver rounds to choose from when buying silver. The available rounds include 1 oz and 5 oz weights, with each weight boasting a proof, antique, and proof colorized version. The series is a limited-edition release, with the following mintage figures for each round released:
Each round released in the series has rim engravings of the individual serial number. The rounds can be purchased individually inside of protective capsules, and the purchase includes a Certificate of Authenticity that features a matching serial number to the one found on the edge engraving of the round itself.
As for the three different versions, the proof offers visuals similar to the average proof. Mirrored fields and matte finishes are used to create visual contrast in the design sets and the background fields. The antique round has a warm, subtle hue that adds age to the coin’s visual appearance, while also calling attention to the intricate aspects of each design’s details. The proof colorized version brings Brown’s original artworks to life as they were originally intended to be viewed.
Finally, there is a common design theme that will feature on the reverse of all rounds in the Amy Brown Collection. The fairy known as Dusk features large, graceful wings that are feathered like those of a bird. Her long hair flows in the breeze as she shoots a dreamy look your way from her high vantage point. Her silver hair beautifully frames her face, and she wears bracelets around her upper arms. The background field is highlighted by the twinkling of stars rising into the early evening sky. Brown created the image of Dusk in 2003.
For the debut release in the series, Brown’s 2016 depiction of a fairy known as the Red Queen features on the silver rounds for sale from Anonymous Mint. The Red Queen is portrayed as an all-knowing, powerful fairy. She walks gracefully through the fairy realm as a mystical moon rises into the background field. She has a long, flowing dress and delicate wings that are also red. She has antlers in her crown that indicate her infinite wisdom, while the scepter she holds with her right hand is a symbol of her authority in the fairy realm. Her figure is accompanied in the design by a bird and a unicorn.
In this design release, Amy Brown’s Lady of the Forest comes to life. This particular fairy matches up with the world around her. AS a fairy of the woodlands, her gentle figure and coloration make her appear as though she’s one with nature. She wears a beautiful green dress matching the foliage around her, and her red-brown hue offers a stark contrast to the spring-time hues of her dress.
Amy Brown’s Second Cousins fairy design offers a playful vision of two younger fairies. Situated on a rock in the middle of a small pond, these two fairies are as different as they are alike. One fairy has the body of a female, and is depicted standing up blowing bubbles into the air. The other fairy is seated and has a mermaid’s body, with the upper torso of a human and the lower body of a fish. Both fairies are clad in clothes featuring hues of purple and blue.
The image of Discovery brings great contrast and variety in the colors used in this fantasy artwork. The fairy Discovery is featured standing in right-profile relief, her chin and nose raised to a small dragon hovering just in front of her face. She wears a crown of flowers in her white hair, with her dress and wings featuring green and pink hues. There is a large purple circle behind her figure, and sprouting greens rise up around her to frame the design beautifully.
Amy’s design of Wall Flower has a more forlorn look than the other fairies in this collection. With rich, auburn red hair and harvest colors dominating the design field, this is the perfect silver round design for anyone who loves the crisp autumn air. Wall Flower’s red hair flows in the gentle breeze, with her wings peeking out from behind her figure as she appears to lean back in her stance, distant and unsure.
Amy’s Dragon Secrets design closes out the initial six-round release of the Amy Brown Collection from Anonymous Mint. This silver round design captures a fairy in green-and-white dress with long black hair that reaches well down her back toward her hips. There is an illusion in this depiction of massive dragon wings belonging to the fairy, but in reality they belong the imposing dragon whose head reaches in around the fairy’s left shoulder. The dragon’s tail and body wrap around the lower edge of the design, with the fairy glances to her left as if turning an ear toward the dragon to hear what it has to say.
A special release in the Amy Brown Collection, the Haunted Pumpkin Patch silver round is a limited-issue round timed for release with the Halloween season in 2018. The Haunted Pumpkin Patch is available in all of the same styles and options as the primary rounds in the Amy Brown Collection, but with a special theme to fit the season of its release.
On the obverse side of the Haunted Pumpkin Patch round, you’ll find a single fairy standing in the middle of a field of pumpkins. There are pumpkins at her feet and small ghosts flying around the design field. Vines and leaves from the pumpkins encircle the design field, which in the colorized version of the round includes a haunting, yellow moon in the background.
Anonymous Mint, as mentioned earlier, is a private organization in the United States. With lead coin designer Julie Lindquist guiding the design selections, Anonymous Mint is responsible for product lineups that have included in recent years the Armed Forces Button Rounds, the Alphonse Mucha collection, and the Norse God Coin Series. Anonymous Mint often teams up with, as it has for the Amy Brown Collection, Luigi Badia. Badia is an Italian Master Sculptor who develops the 3D sculpts used to inspire the coining designs for each silver round.
For the physical production of the coins, Anonymous Mint turns to Osborne Mint. The Osborne Mint is located in Cincinnati, Ohio, and lays claim to the title of “Oldest Operating Private Mint in America.” When the Osborne Mint first opened its doors, there was no singular sovereign currency accepted in the United States and Andrew Jackson was in the White House.
