    Valcambi Suisse Silver Bullion Bars

Valcambi Suisse is one of the finest private refineries in the world, and stands out with its quality products in a nation known for hosting some of the greatest mints and refineries in the world. Switzerland has long been a home to the global financial community, and although Valcambi is not one of its oldest institutions, its state-of-the-art facilities and beautiful silver bars are among the reasons that its products are coveted by investors around the globe.

Valcambi Silver Bars from JM Bullion

Valcambi produces a wide variety of silver bars for sale through dealers such as JM Bullion. Bars produced at the Valcambi refinery are available for purchase in three different styles: minted ingots, cast bars, and CombiBars. While the two former styles have been produced by refineries for decades, even centuries, the CombiBar is a new technology that was pioneered by Valcambi to offer investors flexibility in their silver bar purchases.

    Available Valcambi Silver Minted Bars

Minted silver bars from Valcambi Suisse are available in wide array of weights, with all featuring the same designs. Valcambi produces its silver minted bars in 1 oz, 50 Grams, 100 Grams, 500 Grams, and 1 Kilo. Each bar features a rectangular design and sharp edges, with a purity of .999 pure silver. All Valcambi minted silver bars have individual serial numbers that follow a predictable cataloging system that includes two letters followed by five numbers. Additionally, Valcambi silver bars are shipped in blister packaging with certificate of authenticity.

On the obverse face of minted silver bars from Valcambi Suisse is the famous Valcambi logo, the rotating square design. Below that are engravings that feature the weight, metal content, and purity of the bar. An assayer’s mark is included near the bottom with the individual serial number featured at the very bottom of the bar.

The reverse of these minted ingots features a unique combination of design sets. The company’s Valcambi Suisse name is engraved vertically along the bar, while the background is defined by the corporate logo which emanates from a central point and features an array of increasingly larger squares.

    Available Valcambi Silver Cast Bar

Valcambi Suisse cast bars are struck to meet London Bullion Market Association good delivery standards. The actual size and weight of the bars are determined by the good delivery standards of the LBMA, but still follow some of the Valcambi standards for production. For example, the bars are still struck in a rectangular shape and feature Valcambi’s two-letter, five-number serial number styling.

According to the standards set by the LBMA, Valcambi’s good delivery cast silver bars must meet the following guidelines:

    • Minimum silver purity of .999.
    • Minimum silver content of 900 troy ounces (29 kilograms).
    • Maximum silver content of 1050 troy ounces (33 kilograms).
    • Serial number must be engraved.
    • Assayer’s stamp included.
    • Year of manufacture.

As a result, the design of Valcambi Suisse cast silver bars are the same regardless of their specific size. Each bar features engravings only on the primary face of the product. These include, in no particular order, the Valcambi Suisse corporate logo, the name of the refinery, the year of production, purity, assayer’s mark, and the individual serial number.

    Valcambi Suisse Silver CombiBars

The latest product from Valcambi Suisse is the unique and distinctive CombiBar. The proprietary technology from Valcambi offers investors flexibility and ease of storage when purchasing silver bars. Using this all-new technology, Valcambi makes it possible for investors to purchase large volumes of silver, but later break down the larger products into smaller weights for transport, storage, and payments.

The CombiBar technology places precision cuts along predetermined break lines on the silver bar. This allows the investor to break off certain weights for payment or break down the whole bar into its smaller parts for easier storage. With this CombiBar technology, there is no loss of weight or purity in the silver bar when it is divided into its smaller weights.

Valcambi CombiBars are available in only one total weight, 100 Grams, but it is produced in two different weight breakdowns. Valcambi Suisse offers a 100 Gram CombiBar that is divisible into 100 individual 1 Gram bars, or divisible into 10 individual 10 Gram bars. Each bar features .999 pure silver, sharp, rectangular designs, and ships in blister-proof packaging with certificate of authenticity. The only difference between these bars and other silver bars from Valcambi is the lack of an individual serial number.

Whether you purchase the 100 x 1 Gram bar or 10 x 10 Gram bar from Valcambi, you’ll find the same design features. Each of the individual bars in the CombiBar feature their own design sets. Each smaller bar has the corporate name of Valcambi Suisse on the obverse, followed by the weight of the individual bar, its metal content, and purity. An assayer’s mark is included, as well.

The reverse of each bar features the rotating rectangle logo of Valcambi Suisse, and the bar’s purity and metal content.

Difference between Minted Ingots and Cast Bars

Valcambi cast silver bars are produced using age-old production methods. Throughout the history of human minting activity, cast bars have been the popular approach. In reality, all the refinery needs to produce cast bars is a hot fire and molds. Silver is heated to its melting point and then poured into casts to create bars with a predetermined size, weight, and metal content. Once they have cooled, they are measured and assessed to ensure they contain the proper weight and metal content.

Cast silver bar production is often undertaken on a large scale, producing bars in the hundreds and thousands of ounces, because it is inefficient to cast bars in smaller weights. Pouring molten silver one ounce at a time is simply inefficient.

Minted ingots on the other hand are formed through the use of rolled silver casts, which are stamped in high-pressure machines to create intricate designs and precise metal contents. Minted ingots are not produced in heavier weights because it is expensive and time consuming to build machines to produce these precise products. It is much easier to design, press, and produce smaller weights for minted ingots.

    About the Valcambi Suisse Refinery

Valcambi Suisse was founded in 1961 in the town of Balerna, Switzerland in the country’s southeastern region. The company’s headquarters is located 14 minutes from Lugano, and just 30 minutes from the city of Milan, Italy to the south. The company was originally formed by a group of private Swiss investors as Valori & Cambi. Over the course of time, multiple mergers led to changing names for the company.

When Credit Suisse joined as a major investor in the refinery in 1968, the company’s name was merged to Valcambi, in honor of the original founders, and Suisse was added as a nod to Credit Suisse’s new role in the company. The refinery was later sold to European Gold Refineries as Credit Suisse scaled down its precious metals industry profile, and today the refinery is owned by Global Gold Refineries Ltd.
