Pride of Two Nations Silver 2-Coin Set, Availability, and Packaging

The United States Mint and the Royal Canadian Mint jointly issued the Pride of Two Nations Set in June and July 2019. The coin sets include one 2019 American Silver Eagle and one 2019 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf. Each mint produced 110,000 of its signature silver bullion coin for this set for a total mintage of 110,000 coin sets. 2019 US Mint Pride of Two Nations Silver 2-Coin Sets are packaged inside of United States Mint blue presentation boxes with individual capsules. For the first time in US Mint history, a bilingual Certificate of Authenticity was issued with English and French text included. The COAs from the US Mint are signed by US Mint Director David Ryder.

The 2019 RCM Pride of Two Nations Silver 2-Coin Sets are housed inside of black Royal Canadian Mint presentation boxes. The coins are individually encapsulated in this release as well with a Certificate of Authenticity from the Royal Canadian Mint.

This 2-coin set has experienced unprecedented demand for a collectible set. The Royal Canadian Mint released its 10,000 sets in the last week of June and they sold out completely at the Royal Canadian Mint. As such, they’re only available through authorized dealers like JM Bullion. The United States Mint 2-coin sets were released on July 3, 2019, and during the first day of sales the US Mint sold 74,054 of its 100,000 coin sets.

    The 2019 American Silver Eagle

Each of the 2019 American Silver Eagle coins in the Pride of Two Nations set comes with a distinctive finish. The US Mint struck the coins as enhanced reverse proof specimens. The Silver Eagles in this set have multiple frosted and polished surfaces that create visual isolation for certain design elements. The coins have mirrored design fields and matte background fields.

On the obverse of 2019 American Silver Eagles is the Walking Liberty design created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman. This image Liberty walking toward the sun on the horizon first featured on the US half-dollar coin from 1916 to 1947. The reverse side includes the heraldic eagle of the United States. First used on the first-ever US national currency struck in 1794, this is a modern version of the seal created in 1986 by John Mercanti.

The 2019 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf

The 2019 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins in this Pride of Two Nations set comes with a modified proof finish. The coins have matte design elements and mirrored background fields, and the visual brilliance is up to three times greater than a traditional proof. On top of that, each of the coins has a unique border design element that mixes together stars and maple leaves.

On the obverse side of 2019 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins in this listing is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. It was created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt as the fourth-generation portrait of the Queen on Canadian coins and is the first since the reign of her father King George VI to depict a monarch without a crown. The reverse side of the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf includes a sugar maple leaf design created in 1979 by Walter Ott for the Gold Maple Leaf coin.

The Connection between the Two Nations

The United States and Canada share more than just geographic proximity. Both nations were inhabited by various indigenous tribes whose cultural ties cross modern international boundaries. During the 16th and 17th centuries, both countries were explored, conquered, and settled by British and French forces. Britain established large territorial control over vast stretches of both nations, with small French enclaves persisting in the Louisiana Territories in the United States and in the regions around modern Quebec in Canada. Together with those cultural and historical ties, Canada and the United States of America share the longest land border in the world at a total of 8,893 kilometers, which is more than 2,000 kilometers longer than the next closest border.
