The year 2021 marked the return of two highly sought-after silver dollar designs for modern numismatists. In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the final Morgan Dollar issue and the first release of the Peace Dollar, the US Mint brought both designs back into production. Since 2023, collectors have been able to acquire these silver dollars as part of an annual release program. Now, Proof Peace Silver Dollar Coins in certified condition are available online from JM Bullion.

Proof Peace Silver Dollars feature a distinctive obverse designed by Anthony de Francisci that presents a left-facing image of Lady Liberty. She wears a radiant crown with rays that extend outward, symbolizing enlightenment and freedom. Modeled after de Francisci’s wife, Teresa, this depiction offers a more contemporary and youthful appearance than earlier Liberty designs.
The reverse of the Proof Peace Dollar Coin depicts a bald eagle resting peacefully on a rock while grasping an olive branch. This imagery represents peace following the conclusion of World War I. The calm and restrained design was a purposeful shift away from the aggressive eagle imagery commonly seen on prior US silver dollar issues.
Production of original Peace Dollars began in high relief in 1921, but the dies wore out quickly and the coins didn’t stack properly, prompting the Mint to switch to a lower relief design in 1922. During these early years, millions of Peace Dollars were struck at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco mints to fulfill the Pittman Act requirements. The 1922 issue saw particularly high mintages, while the 1923 issue continued strong production across all three facilities, establishing the Peace Dollar as America’s standard silver dollar.
These Proof Peace Silver Dollar Coins are available in near-perfect PF/PR69 condition. Coins with this grade showcase full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detractions. These flaws must be located outside the primary focal points and are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines.
