Collectors marked an important moment in 2021 with the return of two of the US Mint’s most popular silver dollar designs. Issued in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the last Morgan Dollar and the introduction of the Peace Dollar, these designs were brought back into production by the US Mint. Beginning in 2023, the Mint has continued striking these silver dollars as annual collectible releases. Now, Proof Peace Silver Dollar Coins are available online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The obverse of Proof Peace Silver Dollars features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty designed by Anthony de Francisci. Liberty wears a radiant crown with rays extending outward, representing freedom and enlightenment. The design was modeled after de Francisci’s wife, Teresa, offering a youthful and modern vision of Liberty that differs from earlier depictions on US coins.
On the reverse, the Proof Peace Dollar Coin displays a bald eagle perched peacefully while clutching an olive branch. This imagery represents the nation’s desire for peace following World War I. The calm posture of the eagle stands in contrast to the more aggressive and dynamic eagle designs seen on previous silver dollar coinage.
The circulation Peace Dollar returned briefly in 1934 and 1935 to absorb newly purchased silver under Depression-era legislation designed to support silver mining interests. These final two years produced coins only at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco mints, with 1935 marking the end of regular production. The series concluded with no fanfare, and the Peace Dollar would not return to production until a brief, controversial revival attempt in 1964 that resulted in coins being melted before official release.
These Proof Peace Silver Dollar Coins come with a presentation box and a Certificate of Authenticity from the US Mint. This listing offers coins from various dates from 2023 onward. We cannot promise a specific year of issue in advance. All coins will be chosen at random after your payment has cleared.
