The Liberty Gold Eagle was introduced as the second of three designs for the $10 US Gold Eagle Coin denomination. While the $10 Gold Eagle was produced from 1794 to 1933, the Liberty Gold Eagle was the most prominent design as it was struck for 70 years between 1838 and 1907. This iconic visual was created by Christian Gobrecht, who was serving as the 3^rd Chief Engraver of the United States Mint.

All Pre-33 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins offered here come in Mint State 60 condition. Coins in this condition showcase contact marks throughout all fields of the coin, with noticeable hairlines and an impaired luster. Most importantly, you will notice no traces of circulation wear on the coins.

On the obverse of Pre-33 Liberty Gold Eagles is a bust of Lady Liberty. Gobrecht’s design was classic for this era of American history, following in the tradition of Greek and Roman artwork themes. Liberty’s left-profile relief includes a coronet crown on her head and a ring of 13 stars around the bust.

The reverse side of $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins comes with a depiction of the heraldic eagle. Also designed by Gobrecht, this visuals shows an American bald eagle in front-facing relief with the US national shield in front of its figure. The eagle clutches the arrows of war and olive branch of peace in its talons. Liberty Eagles have Type I and Type II reverse variants, with the former lacking the national motto and the latter featuring it. The changeover came in 1866, with both Type I and Type II coins struck in 1866.
