The design includes a portrait of Lady Liberty that shows her head in left-profile relief with a coronet crown on her head. The field includes a ring of 13 stars around Liberty and a date mark at the bottom.

In the reverse design of the $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin, you will find the heraldic eagle of the United States. The image shows a bald eagle in front-facing relief with the US national shield on its chest. The eagle clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. The design field here may or may not include the national motto of IN GOD WE TRUST.

Liberty Gold Eagles were not only issued from 70 years, but also featured only one minor design adjustment during this impressive period of production. The lone change came in late 1866 when the US Mint added a banner above the eagle on the reverse with the national motto of In God We Trust.
