The revival of two classic silver dollar designs in 2021 was widely celebrated by modern numismatists. To mark the 100th anniversary of the final Morgan Dollar strike and the first Peace Dollar, the US Mint resumed production of both historic designs. Since 2023, these silver dollars have been issued each year as collectible pieces for collectors. Today, Peace Silver Dollar Coins are available at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Historically, no Peace Dollars were struck from 1929 through 1933, as the Great Depression dramatically reduced demand for silver coinage and the Treasury had accumulated sufficient stocks. The economic crisis meant fewer commercial transactions required silver dollars, and the government focused on addressing the financial emergency rather than continuing routine coin production. This five-year gap represented the longest interruption in the series’ history.
All Peace Silver Dollar Coins available here come with a presentation box and a Certificate of Authenticity from the US Mint. This listing offers coins with a random year of issue. We are not able to hand-pick a specific year of issue for the coin you receive. All items are chosen at random after your payment has been processed.
Peace Dollars feature an obverse design by sculptor Anthony de Francisci that presents Lady Liberty facing left. Liberty wears a radiant crown with rays extending outward, symbolizing enlightenment and freedom. Modeled after de Francisci’s wife, Teresa, this design reflects a more youthful and modern portrayal of Liberty compared to earlier US coinage.
The reverse of the Peace Silver Dollar depicts a bald eagle at rest, perched calmly while holding an olive branch. This imagery symbolizes peace in the period following World War I. The serene presentation of the eagle was an intentional departure from the more aggressive eagle designs found on earlier silver dollar issues.
