Coin Highlights:
Each of the Morgan Silver Dollar Coins available here at JM Bullion come in protective plastic slabs from the PGS. Coins in Mint State 64 condition exhibit average mint luster for the age of the specimen, with several small contact marks in groups, one or two moderate marks, and one or two patches of small hairlines. The unique Rattler Holder is one of the PCGS’s original, larger plastic slabs for certified coins.
Morgan Silver Dollars were largely issued between 1878 and 1904, with production taking place annually during this period. The Philadelphia Mint and San Francisco Mint struck the coins each year during this timeframe, with the New Orleans Mint issuing the coins every year but 1878. Carson City also struck the coins during this period, but from 1878 to 1885 and 1889 to 1893.
The obverse of the Morgan Silver Dollar Coin features a left-profile bust of Liberty. Designed by George T. Morgan, it features Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap with a coronet crown and a laurel wreath on her head.
On the reverse side of Morgan Silver Dollars, you will find the heraldic eagle. This design also came from Morgan and shows the bald eagle in front-facing relief. The eagle is shown with its wings spread to the sides as its talons clutch the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
