The Morgan Silver Dollar was the second major design issue of the US silver dollar denomination. Introduced in 1878, it was available for 26 years before being discontinued in production. The US Mint resumed the coining of silver dollars again in 1921 and briefly used the Morgan design before introducing the Peace Silver Dollar later that same year. Right now, Morgan Silver Dollar Coins with Mint State 61 certifications are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each Morgan Silver Dollar available to you in this listing has a Mint State 61 certification from either the PCGS or NGC. Coins in this condition exhibit diminished or impaired mint luster. The range of possible visual flaws includes clusters of large and small contact marks, noticeable hairlines, scuff marks on the larger areas or major features, and small nicks on the rim.
These Morgan Silver Dollars come from the original mintage years of the series spanning 1878 to 1904. Some 570 million Morgan Silver Dollars were struck during this time period and released into circulation. Please note that we only guarantee the coins available here come with an MS61 certification. We do not guarantee specific date marks and cannot hand-pick a variety of date marks if you purchase more than one.
On the obverse of Morgan Silver Dollars is the left-profile portrait of Lady Liberty. She is featured with a coronet that bears the word “Liberty” on it and a wreath crown behind that. There are 13 stars on the outer edge of the design field and a date mark in the bottom-center of the outer edge.
The reverse face of Morgan Silver Dollars bears the image of George T. Morgan’s version of the heraldic eagle. This American eagle has no national shield, but does clutch arrows and an olive branch in its talons as it sits perched with its wings spread wide open.
