Arizona is home to some of the largest and most trusted names in the precious metal industry. There are a number of excellent gold and silver dealers in most large cities throughout the state, including Phoenix, Mesa, and Tucson.
Gold investors in Arizona enjoy low taxes and access to top quality coins and bullion through local dealers. Read on to learn more about purchasing precious metal products in Arizona.
Most forms of coin, currency, and bullion are not taxable in Arizona. Arizona tax law 42-5061(A)(21) (http://www.azleg.gov/ars/42/05061.htm) specifically deals with coins and bullion. Under Arizona state law, the sale of “precious metal bullion” and “monetized bullion” to consumers is not taxable.
Under the law, “monetized bullion” refers to coins and other types of money made from gold, silver, or other metals that have been used as currency in any state or country. “Precious metal bullion” refers to precious metal (gold, silver, platinum, rhodium, or palladium) products whose value is dependent solely on the precious metal they contain.
Because coins, precious metals, and paper currency are exempt from Arizona sales tax, buying locally is an excellent option for adding to your investment. Do watch out for local taxes; though the state of Arizona does not tax precious metal sales, some cities do.

One of the nation’s oldest precious metal dealers, CMI Gold and Silver was founded in 1973. As an industry leader, they are able to offer excellent prices on investment-grade gold and silver bullion.
One downfall to CMI Gold and Silver is their lofty ordering minimums — for example, investors need to be interested in at least 200 American Silver Eagles to make a qualifying purchase. The same minimums apply to all of their products — pre-1965 coins require a $250 face value minimum purchase (178.75 troy oz of silver), etc.
CMI is committed to serving investors by helping them select the right products to meet their investment needs, and is always ready to assist you, whether you are a first-time buyer or seasoned investor. Make sure to read their guide to investing in silver bullion, which is an excellent starter for new investors to get up to speed on investment strategies, product selection, and more.
