1/10 oz Uncirculated American Gold Eagles

The smallest coin in the Uncirculated American Gold Eagle Series is also one of the most exciting. This coin is not only the smallest, but it is also the weight with the highest single mintage recorded in the series and the widest gulf between its highest recorded mintage and its lowest recorded mintage. The 1/10 oz Uncirculated American Gold Eagle is a beautiful option for anyone buying gold.

    Extreme Highs and Lows

The 1/10 oz Uncirculated Gold Eagle can, unquestionably, claim the widest gulf between its highest and lowest mintages. When you look closely at the numbers, it’s not even a close race. The gap between high and low in the 1 oz weight is 1.4 million coins. That same gap is roughly 570,000 coins in the 1/2 oz weight and nearly 700,000 for the 1/4 oz weight.

However, when you look at the highest mintage and the lowest mintage for the 1/10 oz Uncirculated American Gold Eagle, you’ll see a drastic divide. The highest mintage is some 2.6 million coins higher than the lowest mintage in the series.

Record Highs for the 1/10 oz Uncirculated Gold Eagle

The 1/10 oz Uncirculated American Gold Eagle ebbed and flowed over time following the same pattern as the other coins. Demand was high in the mid-1980s, the late 1990s during the Y2K crisis, in the late 2000s and early 2010s during the Great Recession, and again during the 2015-2016 period of geopolitical instability:

    • 1999 – 2.750 million coins
    • 1998 – 1.344 million coins
    • 2015 – 980,000 coins
    • 2016 – 926,000 coins
    • 1986 – 912,609 coins
    • 1987 – 580,266 coins

Record Lows for the 1/10 oz Uncirculated Gold Eagle

Just like the other coins, the eras of economic prosperity in the 1990s, mid-2000s, and more recently in the late 2010s brought with them low demand for Uncirculated American Gold Eagles. The record lows for the 1/10 oz Uncirculated Gold Eagle include:

    • 2021 Type 1 – 150,000 coins
