Gold bars offer a great deal of variety to investors seeking to build a strong portfolio in precious metals. Gold is most commonly thought of in terms of 1 oz weights, but Gram-based weights are actually more common when it comes to gold bars for private investors. The wide range of Gram-based weights includes 10 Gram gold bars, equivalent to a weight of 0.3215 Troy oz gold.
One of the most popular reasons to buy 10 Gram gold bars is affordability. When gold prices surge, many buyers look for fractional-ounce gold coins or Gram-based gold bars. This allows investors to continue purchasing gold, while also delivering a product that is easier to sell in small increments as needed in the future. With 10 Gram gold weighing in at 0.3215 Troy oz, these gold bars are popularly positioned between competing 1/2 oz and 1/4 oz gold bullion coins in terms of pricing.
Like many other smaller Gram-based gold bars, 10 Gram gold bars are most commonly produced as minted/pressed ingots. While cast or cast-poured specimens are possible, many of the 10 Gram gold bars you’ll find on JM Bullion come from mints that produce minted ingots. A minted ingot is produced by using refined gold bar blanks and feeding them into stamping machines the use thousands of pounds of pressure to stamp the final product’s shape and press designs into the surfaces.
Most gold bars in this weight range are produced with simple design elements. Many refiners will stamp a logo pattern on the back of the bar (or leave it blank), while stamping the official mint logo and identifying hallmarks on the front of the bar. While this is common, it is also possible for mints to get a little more creative with the designs of 10 Gram gold bars.
