Collect the Coins of the Goddess Series from St. Helena

The continuing collaboration between the East India Company and the Issuing Authority of St. Helena has resulted in a number of exciting coin collections. One of the newest is the Goddess Series. The 2023 release of Goddess Series coins not only brings an exciting new reverse design but also St. Helena’s first King Charles III portrait on the obverse of the coins. In this new release, you’ll find three exciting options as you buy St. Helena silver coins.

    The Eos Release

For the reverse design of the new 2023 Proof St. Helena Silver Goddess Series Eos Coins, the East India Company offers a design from Joel Iskowitz that features the figure of Eos on a chariot driven by three powerful horses. This design shows a winged figure of Eos with a radiant sun rising from the lower rim of the design field.

    King Charles III’s Debut

In the obverse design of the 2023 Proof Silver Goddess Series Eos Coins, we get our first glimpse of the new King Charles III portrait for St. Helena coinage. This left-profile bust shows the new monarch without a crown. King Charles III enjoyed his official coronation ceremony on May 6, 2023, though he has formally filled the role since the passing of his mother, Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8, 2022.

    Options in the Eos Release

With the release of the new 2023 Proof Silver Goddess Series Eos Coins, the East India Company and Issuing Authority of St. Helena offer three proof silver coins. In addition to the 1 oz silver proof, the release includes a 5 oz silver proof and a 10 oz silver proof as well, with the same design found on all three coins.

All three coins are offered in individual presentation boxes and come with a Certificate of Authenticity from the Mint. The coins each have a different mintage figure, with the 1 oz coin capped at 1,000 pieces, the 5 oz coin at 500 pieces, and the 10 oz coin at 250 pieces. As proof coins, each one boasts frosted design elements over mirrored background fields.

    Background on Eos

Eos is a goddess from Greek mythology who personifies the dawn. She is often described as a beautiful and radiant figure, associated with the coming of daylight and the arrival of a new day. Eos was considered one of the Titans, the divine beings who ruled the world before the reign of the Olympian gods.

According to mythology, Eos is the daughter of the Titans Hyperion and Theia, and she is the sister of Helios (the sun god) and Selene (the moon goddess). Eos is usually depicted as a young woman with rosy fingers and golden wings, symbolizing the first light of the day as she emerges from the ocean or rises from her golden bed in the East.
