After the American Silver Eagle, the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf stands as one of the best-known silver coins on the market. As a leading sovereign mint bullion series, the Silver Maple Leaf is one of the few annual issues produced in .9999 fine silver. The Silver Maple Leaf stands as not only one of the most popular coins in North America, but around the globe. Today, 1 oz Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Monster Boxes are available at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf debuted in 1988, arriving nearly ten years after the launch of the Gold Maple Leaf. Both the silver and gold editions feature identical core designs on the obverse and reverse, with the only ongoing change being the obverse portrait of the reigning British monarch. From 1988 to 2023, Queen Elizabeth II featured on the obverse in one of three different portraits. Since 2024, King Charles III has graced the coins.
All 1 oz Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Monster Boxes come with a total of 500 individual silver coins. The coins are packaged in acrylic tubes of 25 within the box. All coins in this offering are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. This means the coins show no wear from circulation, though some pieces may exhibit minor imperfections such as light contact marks, milk spots, or natural toning. Please note that coins from 2014-present feature new radial lines and a laser-engraved maple leaf privy.
On the obverse of Canadian Silver Maple Leafs, you will find an effigy of either Queen Elizabeth II or King Charles III. All of Queen Elizabeth II’s effigies are right-profile reliefs, with coins dated 1988-1989 featuring a portrait by Arnold Machin. Dora de Pedery-Hunt’s effigy of Her Majesty features on coins from 1990-2003, and Susanna Blunt’s final bust of Her Majesty is on coins from 2004-2023. As of 2024, King Charles III is captured in left-profile relief in a design by Steven Rosati.
The reverse of 1 oz Silver Maple Leaf Coins features the iconic sugar maple leaf. Canada’s national emblem is shown here in a design that was created in 1979 by Walter Ott and has graced all versions of the Canadian Maple Leaf bullion series since that time.
