In 1946, the United States Mint honored the legacy of President Franklin D. Roosevelt with a redesign of the US dime. Following the President’s death in April 1945, the decision was made to honor Roosevelt by replacing the Mercury Dime design with his bust on the 10-cent piece. Now, 90% Silver Roosevelt Dimes in $5 rolls are available for purchase from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1945 shook the nation. It came at a time when the US and its allies were making immense strides in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of World War II. The nation’s longest-serving president, Roosevelt was the only man in American history to win election to the Oval Office more than twice (four times total) and had lead the nation from 1933 to 1945.
As the US Mint considered a coin program to redesign, the US dime was chosen because of President Roosevelt’s initiative with the March of Dimes. Because the previous dime design, the Mercury Dime, debuted in 1916, it had been in circulation for more than 25 years and could be changed without congressional action.
For the obverse of each 90% Silver Roosevelt Dime, you will find a left-profile bust of President Roosevelt. The portrait was created in 1946 by John Sinnock. The reverse of the 90% Silver Roosevelt Dimes comes with a torch at the center flanked by an olive branch on one side and an oak branch on the other.
These 90% Silver Roosevelt Dimes are available to you in the original bank roll. The roll holds a total of 50 Roosevelt Dimes for a total of $5 in face value. The dimes all feature 90% Silver and 10% copper and arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The years of issue on the dimes may vary or match. We are not able to guarantee a roll with either all the same years or all varying years.
