Additionally, these coins are all GEM Proof specimens. Coins with these visuals have high-quality, mirrored surfaces. The mirrored surfaces contrast with the frosted designs of the coins.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt is featured on the obverse side of 90% Silver Roosevelt Dimes. This left-profile effigy of President Roosevelt was created by John R. Sinnock in 1946 and replaced the Mercury Dime design that had been on the coins from 1916 to 1946.
In the reverse design of 90% Silver Roosevelt Dimes, a torch is shown with branches of oak and olive on either side. This design was also created by Sinnock. Both of these designs remain on the coins today, but all coins issued from 1965 onward have a modern cupronickel alloy instead of silver content.
