There are many options available to those who want to buy silver that go beyond bullion coins. For example, historic US silver coins actually contained 90% silver content with a 10% copper mixture up until the 1960s. The US Quarter Dollar coin is one of the oldest denominations still in circulation today and all quarters issued up to 1964 have 90% silver content. Right now, you can purchase 90% Silver Quarters online from JM Bullion.

The US Quarter is one of the longest-running denominations of US currency. The first quarter was struck in 1796 and the coins were intermittently produced from 1804 to 1807, 1815 to 1828, and consistently since 1831. The program has gone through just four different designs since 1831 that include the famed Seated Liberty design, the so-called Barber Coinage design, the Standing Liberty image, and the existing image of President George Washington.
On the obverse side of 90% Silver Quarters in this listing, you will find one of the four designs mentioned above. US Mint Engraver Christian Gobrecht created the Seated Liberty design in 1831 and it was used until 1892. The Barber Coinage design included a left-profile bust of Liberty with Greco-Roman inspiration in the design. Standing Liberty replaced the Barber design in 1916 and lasted until 1930. Since 1932, President George Washington has been depicted on the quarter.
The reverse face of these 90% Silver Quarters also varies, but always focuses on the American bald eagle. The Seated Liberty, Barber Coinage, and the Washington Quarter all use a variation of the heraldic eagle of the United States. The Standing Liberty Quarter includes just an American bald eagle in flight.
All four US Quarters you receive in this listing feature 90% silver content with 10% copper content. The latest date mark you will find on any of these coins is 1964, the last year in which the US used 90% silver in its circulating coins.
