JM Bullion would like to present its $10 face value tube of Franklin Half-dollars from the United States Mint. The Franklin half-dollar enjoyed a brief 15 year mintage from 1948 to 1963. Because they predate the 1965 discontinuation of silver currency, they are one of the few existing pieces of currency that possess any genuine silver in their composition. Each Franklin half-Dollar was minted from 90% pure silver. The combined silver content for the entire tube is 7.15 troy ounces. Every half-dollar included in this set is in (AU) Almost Uncirculated condition, meaning that although they appear fairly new, there may possess some signs of wear.
Proudly displayed on the front of every coin is an image of its namesake, Benjamin Franklin. He is depicted in profile with a rather pensive look on his face. To the right of him is the mintage year of the coin. The words “Liberty” and “In God We Trust” are inscribed above and below his profile respectively. Franklin aficionados might find this design rather ironic since Franklin himself did not believe in placing portraits on coins, preferring instead to engrave proverbs unto them as a benefit to the owner.
On the reverse side of the coin is the celebrated Liberty Bell, which shares its home town with Franklin in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From the texture of its wooden yoke to the iconic crack that extends to its lip, master craftsman have gone to great lengths to capture every detail of this historical bell. “E Pluribus Unum” in engraved on the left side of the bell, while the heraldic eagle appears to its right.
