The Arizona Goldback Series brings Goldbacks to the American Southwest, offering designs that draw upon the state’s rich historical narrative. Each piece highlights periods from Arizona’s Spanish and Mexican past to its eventual statehood within the United States of America. Today, 8 Piece Arizona Goldback Gold Note Sets are available from JM Bullion.
Note Set Highlights:
The designs in the Arizona Goldback Series celebrate the state’s rich history, from its indigenous era to its US statehood. Following Mexican independence from Spain in 1821, Arizona became part of Mexico’s northern frontier, a remote and difficult-to-govern region where settlements like Tubac struggled against Apache resistance and limited governmental support from distant Mexico City. The Mexican-American War and subsequent Gadsden Purchase of 1854 transferred most of present-day Arizona to the United States. The territory’s violent reputation, epitomized by events like the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, gradually gave way to more stable governance, and after decades of political maneuvering, Arizona finally achieved statehood on February 14, 1912, becoming the last of the contiguous states to join the Union.
All 8 Piece Arizona Goldback Gold Note Sets come with individual protective currency sleeves for the note. With the introduction of the Florida Goldback Series in early 2025, the Goldback collection featured three new denominations that you’ll find present in this set. In addition to the original 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50 Goldbacks, this set includes 1/2, 2, and 100 Goldbacks. Each note has its own Arizona-specific design.
Images on the Goldbacks in this 8 Piece Arizona Goldback Set celebrate the state’s rich history, from its ancient past to the present day. The region’s acquisition by the United States through the Gadsden Purchase of 1854 opened the floodgates for American miners, ranchers, and settlers who would transform the territory over the following decades. The discovery of rich mineral deposits—copper, silver, and gold—fueled explosive growth in towns like Tombstone, Bisbee, and Jerome, while the arrival of railroads in the 1880s connected Arizona’s isolated communities to national markets and accelerated settlement.
