Schloss Guldengossa is a famous castle in Leipzig, Germany. Today it serves as the corporate headquarters of Geiger Edelmetalle, but it was originally built in 1720 as a Baroque-styled castle. The building itself is associated with some of the greatest names in art and cultures from the 18th and 19th centuries, including Johann Sebastian Bach and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Both individuals just happened to be involved in precious metals in their day as well.
The image of Schloss Guldengossa has long featured in the design elements of Geiger Edelmetalle products, which is why this series is known as the Original Collection. It features the most iconic and longest-running design used by the German refinery. The Original Bars have an old name, but they are modern bullion products.
Each 500 Gram Geiger Square Silver Bar includes a variety of anti-counterfeiting measures. The design includes a pearl finish on the obverse, textured reverse with a high-relief design, and a ribbed edge similar to bullion coins. There is a UV-coating on the reverse that shows the LEV rhombus and serial number under black light. All boxes have a security label enclosing them.
On the reverse of the Geiger Square Silver Bar is the image of Schloss Guldengossa. The castle was registered as the first official business location of Geiger Edelmetalle in the modern era, and is located just outside of Leipzig.
The obverse of the 500 Gram Geiger Square Silver Bar includes a repeating pattern of the LEV rhombus. This side of the bar also has the unique serial number engraved, and is the side upon which you’ll find that UV coating under a black light.
Geiger Edelmetalle was founded in 1218 in the heart of Germany’s silver mining region. The southeastern Saxony mountains have been home to major silver trades in Germany for more than 1,000 years, with Geiger there for the vast majority of that time as a premier refiner of silver.
