Whether you want to stack some silver or honor a belief system, you can do so with this certified silver bar. The 500 Gram Buddhist Stele of Amitabha Silver Bar actually lets you do both, as it’s a gorgeous reproduction of a stele discovered at the Biamsa Temple in what is now Sejong City.
Silver bar ships in a plastic sleeve for protection. You’ll also receive a Certificate of Authenticity to enhance the value of the piece. The certificate documents that your item is one of the 673 minted.
The obverse of this silver bar captures the images found on an antique stele that’s now housed in the National Museum in Korea. During the creation of the design, artists made choices to clarify certain images as the original had sustained minor damage and centuries of wear and tear. The image remains true to the content of the original artifact, though, and the antique patina on the silver bar helps capture the same ambiance. The depiction is of the Amitabha Buddha, who is accompanied by other Buddhas and spiritual figures. An engraving on the original artwork seems to indicate it was erected in 689 AD.
The reverse of the bar features images of 20 Buddhas in four lines of five. Not all of the Buddhas are fully presented, as the bar is designed to look like the original artifact. That means some corners appear as if they’ve been worn away. The back of the Buddhist Stele of Amitabha Silver Bar even includes “cracks” that mimic the cracks that are in the facade of the original. These cracks are part of the design and are not actually defects or anything that will cause issues for the wholeness of the bar.
