Goldbacks are a new and unique form of spendable currency that contains pure gold. Featuring a new release every year since 2019, 2023 welcomes the South Dakota collection of Goldbacks, showcasing five different denominations ranging from 1 to 50. At JM Bullion, we’re proud to bring you the largest denomination available for the 2023 release. The 50 South Dakota Goldback Gold Note is now available for purchase.
Note Highlights:
The obverse field of each 50 South Dakota Goldback Note showcases a unique depiction of Libertas. The Roman goddess of liberty was known as Libertas. This depiction showcases the female embodiment of the Latin word marching into combat wielding a sword and a shield. Behind her, we can see Mount Rushmore and the capitol building of South Dakota.
The reverse side of the 50 South Dakota Gold Note features a mirrored image of the obverse. This is due to the thin nature of the Goldback. Any design element on the reverse would alter the obverse.
Each 50 South Dakota Goldback Gold Note will arrive in a protective currency sleeve to preserve the condition of your gold note. The 50 Goldback represents the largest denomination available in the Goldback series. Each 50 Goldback contains 1/20th of actual gold content.
Goldbacks made their debut in 2019 with a 5-denomination set in Utah. Their immense popularity led to the creation of a unique 5-piece set each year that followed for a different state. From 2020-2022, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Wyoming became the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th states to receive Goldbacks, respectively. These notes act as voluntary currency meaning they can be used based on the discretion of the vendor.
