Though it only operated for 18 months, the Pony Express lives on in American culture as a symbol of the Wild West and the nation’s first form of rapid shipping. Established in April 1860, prior to the rise of the telegraph, the Pony Express offered a connection between the eastern states and the new US state of California that enabled mail delivery within 10 days. Right now, 5 oz SilverTowne Pony Silver Bars are available to purchase online from JM Bullion
Bar Highlights:
Each 5 oz SilverTowne Pony Silver Bar available in this listing comes to you with a protective plastic sleeve. These cast silver bars have incuse-struck designs that feature only on the obverse side of the bar. The reverse has only the natural textures and striations that result from the cast silver production process.
The Pony Express was adopted before the rise of the transcontinental telegraph as a swifter means of getting mail and information from the established states of the Eastern United States and the new state of California. Prior discussions focused on using stagecoaches, but it was determined that a network of individual riders constantly switching out with another rider-horse team could move quicker. From April 1860 to October 1861, the Pony Express moved parcels and mail from Missouri to California.
On the obverse of SilverTowne Pony Silver Bars, you will find a depiction of a Pony Express rider. He is shown in left-profile relief as his steed sprints along from one station to the next. The field also includes the weight, metal content, and purity, along with the SilverTowne mint mark. The reverse of the silver bar is blank.
The Pony Express went out of business in 1861 due to bankruptcy. Though it only operated for 18 months, it was a highly romanticized system that many held up as an emblem of the American West as its crew of hearty riders on reliable steeds raced across the wilderness to deliver packages.

"Too cool"
"Very pleased took a little longer than excepted to receive but was worth he weight ! I normally don’t buy on line I usually buy from pawn shops in small increments cash no receipts THANKS WILL PURCHASE AGAIN"
"Once again, fantastic service from JM Bullion! This is probably my favorite Silver bar that I have received so far. I love the pony express design and 5 ounces is the perfect size. I will definitely buy more 5 ounce bars in the future and will continue to buy from JM Bullion. "
"Bought a few of these and they arrived in less than a week. Nice little cast bars; low price and the pictures really don't do them justice. They've got a smooth surface and subtle textures on the bar (probably from the cast), and the edges are rounded but they're still flat enough to stack. Measures about 60mm x 35mm. Highly recommend, especially for the price."
"Very cool addition to any collection!"
