In the second design of the American Western Skulls Collection, the figure of law-and-order in the Wild West comes front and center. Sheriffs were tasked with the difficult task of maintaining the peace between residents and protecting locals against the roaming bands of outlaws taking advantage of the wide open spaces in the West. The Sheriff design in the American Western Skulls Collection represents one of the toughest regions in the American Wild West. If you look closely at this design, the sheriff’s badge on the figure’s hat reads “Tombstone, Arizona Territory.” The city of Tombstone was founded in 1879 and incorporated in 1881 in what was then the Arizona Territory.
All 5 oz Colorized Proof American Western Skulls Sheriff Silver Rounds are available to you with a protective capsule to house the silver round. Each round in this collection has its unique serial number engraved on the edge and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity which validates the round’s authenticity with a matching serial number.
On the obverse of 5 oz Colorized Proof American Western Skulls Sheriff Silver Rounds is the image of a Sheriff from the Wild West. The figure wears a large cowboy hat colorized in blue with a bright silver sheriff’s badge on the hat. The crossed weapons featured in the Sheriff Silver Round are similar to Henry repeating rifles, a popular multi-shot rifle known to have helped tame the West.
This sheriff’s territory in Tombstone makes him a tough figure. The city was known as “The Town Too Tough to Die.” Located just 30 miles from the US-Mexico border, Tombstone was a hub for stolen cattle coming from Senora in Mexico and was a hub for cattle rustlers, gamblers, bank robbers, and all manner of criminals.
The reverse side of 5 oz Colorized Proof American Western Skulls Sheriff Silver Rounds includes the fried eagle. The design is similar to the heraldic eagle of the United States, but depicts the bald eagle as a dead figure with no feathers.
