Alphonse Mucha was born as Alfons Maria Mucha on July 24, 1860 in the Austrian Empire, which is now modern-day Czech Republic. His works began to attract attention in 1895 as he produced posters for plays that launched his career. Later he would produce various ad posters, paintings, and even jewelry and wallpaper.
The obverse of the 5 oz Antique Mucha Collection Job Silver Round includes the iconic image of his first beautiful woman, Job. Known also as the Mucha Woman, Job was one of his many works featuring beautiful women with long, flowing hair. Job first appeared on an advertising poster in 1896.
On the reverse of all Mucha Collection Silver Rounds is a portrait of Mucha. Taken from one in which hes seated in a chair, the portrait is fixed on his face and includes engravings of his name, birth and death years, and the rounds weight, purity, and metal content. Mucha was also involved with the fledgling government of Czechoslovakia following World War I, designing postage stamps and banknotes for the new nation.
Anonymous Mint created this new Mucha Collection with the permission of the Mucha Foundation, designer Julie Lindquist, and had the assistance of Italian master sculptor Luigi Badia in bringing Muchas designs to life on the silver rounds.
