Between 1895 and 1900, Alphonse Mucha released six different series of artistic panels, or posters, as part of the growth of the Art Nouveau movement. Mucha was a leading artist in the creation of decorative panels, and this would play a significant role in his growing popularity during the period.
The printer F. Champenois developed the concept of using these artistic panels for business, maximizing each design in many different editions and recycling them for a steady stream of new clients. Mucha, however, transformed these panels into a new art form, making them affordable for and available to the wider public.
Dance was one of four figures from The Arts Series, and was the final after the creation of Painting, Poetry, and Music. Each of the female figures in The Arts was beautiful and seductive, but the image of Dance as found on the 5 oz Antique Mucha Collection Dance Silver Round is considered his most alluring.
On the obverse of all 5 oz Antique Mucha Collection Dance Silver Rounds is the image of Mucha taken from an actual full-size photograph of the Czech artist. For the round series, a close-up shot of his head was chosen, and is surrounded by engravings of his name, birth year, death year, weight, metal content, and purity of the round.
The reverse side of all 5 oz Antique Mucha Collection Dance Silver Rounds includes the stunning figure of Dance. She is depicted looking back over her shoulder at you, her figure tight as she stands on her tiptoes while her auburn hair flows in the breeze.
All 5 oz Antique Mucha Collection Dance Silver Rounds listed here have unique edge lettering bearing the individual serial number of the round. This number is reflected on the Certificate of Authenticity included in the purchase of your round. Further, these silver rounds have a brilliant antiquing added, which brings warmth and depth to the overall design.
