The Gunslinger design in the American Western Skulls Collection focuses on the men who excelled with a gun in their hands. Quick on the draw and deadly accurate, there are many gunslingers who entered into American cultural lore during the Old West period. Among them was Wyatt Earp. A famed lawman of his error, Earp was the law in the city of Tombstone, Arizona. He is most famous for the shootout at the OK Corral.
On the obverse of 5 oz Antique American Western Skulls Collection Silver Rounds you’ll find the skull of a Gunslinger. This particular gunslinger has a rough cowboy hat on, with a cigar butt clenched between his teeth as he sizes you up for the draw that means the difference between life and death. In keeping with design elements common to the series, the gunslinger has a pair of revolvers crossed beneath his figure.
The reverse of all silver rounds in the American Western Skulls Collection feature the fried eagle. Like the American heraldic eagle, it features the nation’s heraldic shield with arrows of war, an olive branch of peace, and the 13 stars of the original colonies. Unlike the US heraldic eagle, this bird has no feathers and has been scorched and left as just a skeletal figure.
