Geiger Edelmetalle has one of the richest refining histories of any company around today. The mint was initially established in the Saxony region of southeastern Germany in 1218 near the town of Leipzig. Here, the merchants of Germany established what is today the oldest silver trade in the nation.
Over the course of nearly 1,000 years of silver refining in the Saxon mountain range, Geiger Edelmetalle has been there to produce and refine silver for individuals. Today, the brand is recognized as one of the finest in the world. The Geiger Original Series, which includes the 5 Gram Geiger Square Bar listed here, has a range of options starting as low as 1 Gram and reaching up to 5 Kilograms in weight.
All of the bars in the Original Series share obverse and reverse design elements, as well as security features that boost the anti-counterfeiting status of these bars. Included security features consist of a pearl finish on the obverse surface, a ribbed edge around the bars, and a textured, high-relief surface on the reverse. Each bar has a unique serial number and a UV-coating of the company logo that is visible only under black light.
The reverse of the 5 Gram Geiger Square Silver Bar features the repeating rhombus logo of Geiger Edelmetalle. This LEV rhombus repeats across the bar in the same pattern, with a serial number bar along the bottom and the “LEV” rhombus visible in the center when a black light hits the bar.
On the obverse of the Geiger Square Silver Bars is the image of Schloss Guldengossa in the center, which was the first registered location of the refinery and serves as its modern-day headquarters. Constructed in 1720, the castle has a rich history that includes popular historical figures Johann Sebastian Back and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Geiger Edelmetalle is a family-owned refinery in Leipzig, Germany. In addition to the Original Series, it offers its popular Security Line silver bars and the Noah’s Ark silver coin for Armenia.
