In the obverse design of the Silver Bicentennial Quarter, you will find the iconic portrait of President George Washington. Captured in left-profile relief, Washington’s bust was created in 1932 by John Flanagan.
For the reverse side of 40% Silver Bicentennial Quarters, the mint features a drummer from the Continental Army. This design is accompanied by Liberty’s torch encircled by 13 stars. This visual was used only during production of Bicentennial Quarters in 1975 and 1976.
