The first Arizona Goldback available is the Limited Early Release of the 3 Arizona denomination with a depiction capturing the spirit of Arizona’s Wild West saloons. Today, 3 Arizona Limited Early Release Goldback Notes are available in perfect condition at JM Bullion.

Wild West saloons in Arizona Territory during the 1870s and 1880s served as social hubs where gambling was a primary attraction, with games like faro, poker, monte, and roulette drawing miners, cowboys, and drifters hoping to strike it rich. Women participated in this gambling culture in several capacities – some worked as dealers or “faro girls,” managing games and handling cards with professional skill. These women were often among the few in frontier towns who could earn independent incomes, though their presence in saloons placed them outside the bounds of “respectable” Victorian society.
All 3 Arizona Limited Early Release Goldback Gold Notes available here come sealed in protective plastic currency slabs. The PMG graded these notes Mint State 70, indicating a piece that is in perfect condition with no visible flaws or folds. The 3 Goldback denomination debuted in the Oklahoma Series. These Limited Early Release notes come with only 2,500 notes available in the LER in total.
The design of the 3 Arizona Limited Early Release Goldback Gold Note features a famed faro girl inside a Wild West saloon in Arizona. The name Astutia is printed overhead and references personification from classical allegorical tradition, representing cunning, craftiness, and shrewd intelligence. The saloon environment was rough and male-dominated, but women who worked there developed reputations for toughness and business acumen.
