Displayed on the obverse of the 2026-W Proof 1 oz Silver Eagle Coin is Adolph A. Weinman’s classic Walking Liberty design. Liberty appears in full-length form in left-profile relief, moving forward toward the sun along the horizon. She is wrapped in the American flag, extending her right hand outward while holding branches of oak and laurel in her left. On this side, you’ll find the America250 commemorative additions that include a dual-date mark of 1776-2026 and a Liberty Bell privy mark.
The reverse of the 2026-W Proof American Silver Eagle Coins features the bald eagle artwork by Emily Damstra. Introduced in 2021, the design portrays the eagle in left-profile relief as it descends through the air with wings raised. An oak branch is held securely within the eagle’s talons.
During the 1980s, Proof Silver Eagle production was limited to just four years: 1986, 1987, 1988, and 1989. Mintages during this inaugural period ranged from approximately 500,000 to just over one million coins annually, as the U.S. Mint worked to establish the market for these premium collectibles.
