Interestingly, Emily Damstra was not originally aware that her design would ultimately appear on the Silver Eagle. Her initial assignment was to develop a design for the American Gold Eagle coin, and it was only after the U.S. Mint reviewed all submissions from the Artistic Infusion Program that officials determined the designs could be used for either the gold or silver coin. As a result, throughout the design process, she believed she was creating the reverse for the gold coin rather than the silver.
