The United States Mint debuted the American Eagle gold bullion coins in 1986, offering four weights to meet investor demand, and each issue contains 22-karat gold. This 22-karat blend stands apart from most bullion coins, with an alloy of 91.67% gold, 5.33% copper, and 3% silver. All 2026 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coins arrive in plastic slabs with an MS69 certification. Considered near-perfect, this coin has full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detractions. These flaws are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and must be outside the primary focal points. The First Strike designation is for coins received for certification within 30 days of release from the mint.
On the obverse of the 2026 American Gold Eagle is Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ well-known Lady Liberty design. The scene shows a front-facing Liberty moving forward, a torch raised in one hand and an olive branch carried in the other. Stars encircle the field along the rim, and stylized sunrays fill the backdrop.
The reverse side of 2026 1 oz Gold Eagle Coins showcases the modern bald eagle portrait. Crafted in 2020 by Jennie Norris, the design presents the eagle’s head in left-profile relief.
