To commemorate the 100th birthday of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Tower Mint has released a limited series of gold and silver coins honoring the occasion. As London’s last remaining mint, Tower Mint produces these collectible issues featuring original effigies of Elizabeth II created by artist Raphael Maklouf. Right now, 2026 1 Kilo Gibraltar Silver The Queen Elizabeth II 100 Masterpiece Coin is available at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2026 1 Kilo Proof Gibraltar Silver The Queen Elizabeth II 100 Masterpiece Coin is housed in a presentation box and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Although Maklouf’s third-generation portrait was widely used on circulating coinage, the 100 Masterpiece Series showcases seven designs he created that were never struck for circulation. The coins also include the date 21st April 2026 on the rim to mark the Queen’s 100th birthday.
Queen Elizabeth II’s path to the throne was shaped as much by family circumstance as by birth, beginning with her uncle King Edward VIII’s dramatic abdication in December 1936, an event that made her father King George VI and the young Elizabeth, at ten years old, heir presumptive to the Crown. She embraced her preparation for sovereignty with a seriousness and dedication that became defining characteristics of her character, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service during World War II as the first female member of the royal family to serve in the armed forces, and undertaking an increasingly demanding schedule of public duties as her father’s health declined in the early 1950s.
The obverse of the 2026 Proof Gibraltar Silver The Queen Elizabeth II 100 Masterpiece Coin features a portrait of His Majesty King Charles III. Designed by Raphael Maklouf, the image presents the King in left-profile relief without a crown.
On the reverse of the 2026 1 Kilo Proof Silver The Queen Elizabeth II 100 Masterpiece Coin is the royal emblem of Queen Elizabeth II, encircled by seven unused busts designed by Maklouf. Born in Jerusalem and trained in London at St. Martin’s School of Art, Maklouf combined sculptural technique with attention to fine detail, producing portraits that emphasize proportion, composure, and lasting character.
