This small but meaningful mark is placed to the right of the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III on each release. Now, 2026 1/4 oz Pitcairn Islands Gold Bounty Coins are available online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The obverse of the 2026 1/4 oz Gold Bounty Coins features a left-facing likeness of King Charles III. This first official effigy of the monarch was created by designer Glyn Davies and depicts His Majesty without a crown. In addition to the portrait, the obverse also includes the QEII 100 privy mark, acknowledging the centennial celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s birth.
On the reverse of the 2026 Pitcairn Islands Gold Bounty Coins, you’ll find a detailed image of the HMS Bounty. After the infamous mutiny led by Fletcher Christian, the ship’s crew traveled to the isolated Pitcairn Island, where they destroyed the vessel and founded a hidden settlement. The community remained undiscovered for 18 years, and the descendants of the mutineers continue to live on the island today. This historic event has inspired numerous books, films, and ongoing discussions surrounding leadership, justice, and authority.
The mutineers from the HMS Bounty faced vastly different fates depending on their choices after the 1789 rebellion. Fletcher Christian and eight other mutineers, along with six Tahitian men and twelve Tahitian women, settled on remote Pitcairn Island in 1790, where violent conflicts over the scarce number of women led to the deaths of all the Tahitian men and most of the mutineers within a few years. Meanwhile, sixteen men who remained in Tahiti were eventually captured when HMS Pandora arrived in 1791; four drowned when the Pandora sank, while the survivors were transported back to England for court-martial, where three were ultimately hanged.
These 2026 1/4 oz Pitcairn Islands Gold Bounty Coins are available here in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins arrive in protective plastic flips and come with a special QEII privy mark on the obverse field.
