The American Gold Eagle Series will reach its 40th year of release in 2026. This long-standing series is available in four weights, including a 1 oz gold coin and three fractional-ounce options. Among them, the 1/2 oz Gold Eagle stands out as the largest of the fractional sizes and has been part of the series lineup since its introduction in 1986. Today, 2026 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Tubes are available at JM Bullion.
Coin Tube Highlights:
While the 1/2 oz Gold Eagle is one of the weights in the series that never surpassed its debut mintage, that does not mean it hasn’t seen periods of increased demand. For example, in 1999, it set its second-highest mintage as the Y2K crisis unfolded and drove increased interest in precious metals as a safe haven asset.
All 2026 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Tubes come with an acrylic tube containing 40 coins from the 2026 release of 1/2 oz Gold Eagles. All coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and the tube offers a total of 20 Troy ounces of 22-karat gold.
The obverse of the 2026 American Gold Eagle displays the historic image of Lady Liberty created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This design presents Liberty in a forward-facing stance as she strides ahead, holding a torch high in her right hand and carrying an olive branch in her left. Behind her are the U.S. Capitol Building, sun rays on the horizon, and a circle of stars.
On the reverse of the 2026 1/2 oz Gold Eagle Coin is the modern portrait of a bald eagle. Introduced five years ago to mark the series’ 35th anniversary, this design by Jennie Norris shows the eagle’s head in left-profile relief, with high detail emphasizing its features.
