Known as the Burnished Silver Eagle, these coins begin as raw silver blanks that are placed in a rotating drum with small metal pellets and a burnishing solution. During the production of Burnished Silver Eagles, each burnished blank is hand-fed into the coining press, struck only once under high pressure, and handled with cotton gloves throughout the process to prevent fingerprints or blemishes, resulting in a collector-grade coin that falls between brilliant uncirculated and proof finishes in terms of appearance and value.
The obverse of 2025-W Burnished American Silver Eagles comes with a portrait of Liberty known as Walking Liberty. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this visual shows the full-length figure of Liberty in left-profile relief walking toward the sun rising over a mountain on the horizon. Liberty is draped in the American flag with her right hand outstretched and her left carrying branches of oak and laurel.
On the reverse of 2025-W 1 oz Burnished Silver Eagle Coins is a depiction of the American bald eagle. Created by Emily Damstra, this image shows a powerful bald eagle in flight as it swoops downward. With flexed wings, the eagle descends with its talons outstretched as the bird clutches a large oak branch.
