The Burnished Silver Eagle was first introduced in 2006 by the United States Mint as the third installment in the American Silver Eagle series. Each coin begins with a raw silver blank that is placed into a rotating drum containing metal pellets and a special burnishing liquid. The coins undergo a tumbling process that results in their signature satin-like surface texture. Created in 1916, this depiction features Liberty in full length, walking in profile toward the rising sun behind a distant mountain. Wrapped in the American flag, she extends her right hand forward and holds oak and laurel branches in her left arm.
On the reverse side of the 2025-W 1 oz Burnished Silver Eagle Coin is an image of the American bald eagle in flight. Designed by Emily Damstra, the eagle is seen swooping down with flexed wings and outstretched talons as it clutches a heavy oak branch.
