Coin Highlights:
Proof American Gold Eagles were introduced in 1986 when the Gold Eagle bullion series launched. However, only 1 oz gold was available in 1986. The 1/2 oz Proof Gold Eagle was the second collectible weight offered and it debuted in 1987, one year after the 1 oz coin and one year ahead of the remaining fractional-ounce weights.
All 2025-W 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins are produced with frosted design elements set against a mirror-like background. Packaged in a plastic capsule, the coin is presented in a display box with a Gold Eagle-themed shipper and an official Certificate of Authenticity from the US Mint.
On the obverse of the 2025-W Proof Gold Eagle Coin is the iconic Lady Liberty design created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Liberty is shown in front-facing relief, walking forward with a torch raised in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The U.S. Capitol Building appears in the background with rays of sunlight behind her.
The reverse of the 2025-W 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle is the updated bald eagle design by Jennie Norris. The design presents a left-profile close-up of the eagle’s head, highlighting the fine details of its feathers and sharp gaze.
