Introduced in 1921, the Peace Silver Dollar was created to celebrate the end of World War I and embody America’s aspirations for lasting peace. Designed by Italian-American sculptor Anthony de Francisci, the coin features a portrait of Lady Liberty in profile on the obverse, inspired by his wife Teresa, while the reverse depicts an eagle resting peacefully with an olive branch in its talons.
