On the obverse of 2025 Proof Silver Libertad Coins is the Mexican coat of arms. Each coin includes the modern national seal, which portrays a golden eagle engaged in battle with a snake while perched on a prickly pear cactus. The 1 oz coin also includes an outer ring of 10 historic versions of the national seal, surrounding the current emblem.
The reverse side of the 2025 Proof Mexican Silver Libertads highlights the Winged Victory statue. This image is based on the figure at the top of the Independence Victory Column located in Mexico City. The figure holds a laurel wreath in her right hand and broken chains in her left, with the volcanoes Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl visible in the background.
The Proof Silver Libertad made its debut in 1983 at the Mexican Mint. While production began in the early 1980s, it wasn’t until 1986 that the coin became part of a regular annual release, initially limited to the 1 oz weight. In 1992, fractional-ounce coins were added, and the larger 2 oz and 5 oz versions followed in 1996.
Each 2024 Proof Mexican Silver Libertad 5-Coin Set includes five individual Proof Silver Libertads dated 2024. These coins represent the 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz sizes.
