In 2021, the United States Mint brought back two classic silver dollar designs that remain popular with collectors. The Morgan Dollar and the Peace Dollar were reissued that year to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Morgan Dollar’s final year in circulation and the Peace Dollar’s first appearance in commerce. The US Mint has continued producing these silver bullion dollar coins in modern formats, honoring the historic designs from the early 20th century. Today, 2025 Peace Silver Dollars in certified condition are available from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The Pittman Act of 1918 authorized the melting of up to 350 million silver dollars to provide silver bullion for sale to Great Britain during World War I, creating a significant shortage in the nation’s silver dollar supply. To replenish this depleted coinage, the Act mandated that the U.S. Treasury replace the melted dollars by purchasing domestic silver and striking new silver dollars, leading directly to the creation of the Peace Dollar series in 1921.
All 2025 Peace Silver Dollars offered here are near-perfect specimens. Mint State 69 coins have full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. These flaws are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and must be outside the primary focal points. Early Release coins are those received for grading within 30 days of release from the mint.
The obverse of the 2025 Peace Dollar features a left-facing portrait of Liberty. In this artwork, she wears her hair pulled into a bun, with a few loose strands gently swept by the wind along her face. A prominent crown of light rests on her head.
The reverse of the 2025 Peace Silver Dollar displays the image of an American bald eagle. This depiction presents the eagle perched calmly on a rock, its wings folded at its sides. As it gazes toward the horizon, the sun rises behind it and emits rays that reach across the background of the scene.
