Each 2025 coin has been officially graded by either the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) or the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), the two industry titans that set the standard for coin evaluation and certification. We also carry proof versions with frosted reliefs and mirrored fields.

Here are some of the details about the 2025 gold and silver coins:

The US Mint first released the Eagle in 1986, making the 2025 version the 40th in the series.

The 2025 Certified American Eagles shown above are individually graded pieces. Each one has been certified authentic and in specific condition by the PCGS or NGC.

Certified American Eagles are available in both gold and silver coins. The 2025 Gold Eagles come in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz weights, while the 2025 Silver Eagles are available as a 1 oz silver coin.

One slightly interesting quirk about these coins is that the American Gold Eagles have markedly different designs on their obverse and reverse than do the Silver Eagles. Although both feature Liberty and the bald eagle, they do so in decidedly different ways.

The gold American Eagles pay tribute to Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ famous Liberty design, which adorned the $20 Double Eagle in the early 20th century. His forward-facing depiction of the goddess has been the obverse of the gold Eagle since their first release.

The reverse of the gold Eagle is a left-facing bust of the bald eagle. Artist Jennie Norris created this design in 2020 as the second reverse image to appear on the Eagle coins.

Although Saint-Gaudens’ depiction of Liberty enjoys an almost-mythical status among coin collectors, it’s possible that the Walking Liberty design that adorns the obverse of the silver Eagles is even more recognizable. Weinman’s 1916 image was on the half dollar for more than 30 years and is a notable era in the production of that particular coin.

The image on the reverse of the silver Eagles is a bald eagle. However, this depiction, first rendered in 2021, shows the bird swooping down to land on a large oak branch, rather than capturing the national symbol as a bust.

The silver and gold Eagles also have unique purity levels associated with them. The silver versions are minted in .999 fine silver, while the gold Eagles are 22-karat gold, or 91.67% pure.

Each of the 2025 Certified American Eagle is an individual piece. These coins are not available in bulk purchases the same way that standard American Eagles may be purchased. However, their authenticity and condition makes them the very pinnacle of US Mint production.
