The gestation period for African bush elephants is the longest of any land animal, lasting about 22 months. Typically, a single calf is born weighing around 200 pounds. On the obverse of 2025 Somalia Silver Elephants, you will find the national coat of arms for Somalia. The design features a crowned shield with a single star at its center and horizontal lines behind the star. The shield is supported on either side by a leopard, while spears and palm fronds cross beneath the seal.
The reverse of 2025 5 oz Silver Elephant Coins comes with an image of the African bush elephant. This year’s new design shows a mature elephant marching across the savanna in front-facing relief. The long tusks of the creature nearly reach the ground while its massive ears fill the design field. Other elements include the rising sun, a small patch of brush, and a lone tree.
